Dans le Jardin 2010

The Foundation’s Dans le Jardin event raises $145,000
On May 19, the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation held the 17th edition of its popular Dans le Jardin event at the Grand Salon of the Montreal Hyatt Regency. The wonderful fundraising raffle and cocktail party attracted some 1,000 guests, who helped raise more than $145,000 for the cause. Great prizes were handed out throughout the evening, and almost a dozen Quebec artists donated excellent works of art that were sold during a silent auction.
This year, making a wish was the theme for this colourful event. Whether it’s a happy life, a strong family or achieving our wildest dreams, we all have hopes. At the Foundation, we have just one simple wish: to nourish hope for a future without breast cancer. To help reach this goal, all guests of the Dans le Jardin event were invited to share their wisdom with the Foundation. Tickets for the party were sent out with a tree leaf on which attendees were asked to write their dearest wish for good health. Throughout the evening, guests attached their leaves to an enormous tree. This impressive group effort, which grew before the eyes of all who were present, gave the guests an active role in creating a veritable Garden of Hope!
“Dans le Jardin is an event with special significance,” says executive director Suzanne LeBreux. “It was integral to the creation of the Foundation, 16 years ago. In recent years, the Foundation has grown tremendously. After donating some $15 million to research and a variety of programs, we now want to diversify our activities into more support for patients. Toward that end, we have recently donated $1.5 million to the McGill University Health Centre, for the creation of the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation Lymphedema Support Centre. We plan to make more investments of the same kind in the near future,” she added. “Advances in research, early detection, improvements in treatment and medication – all are central to our struggle. The money that will be raised tonight provides us with the means to keep supporting these important advances.”
Finally, it is important to note that Dans le Jardin took place under the co-chairmanship of Dominique-Ann Coffin, LCC vins et spiritueux, and Chante C. Goyette, BNP Paribas (Canada).
Congratulations to all winners
