Here are a few numbers that speak for themselves:

  • One in nine Canadian women is expected to develop breast cancer during her lifetime.
  • Since 1999, breast cancer death rates have declined an average of 1.7% per year. Breast cancer death rates have declined of over 25% since 1986.
  • In Quebec, 6,200 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, of which 1,300 will die.
  • In Canada, 23,400 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, of which 5 100 will die.
  • The five year survival rate for breast cancer is 88%.


These statistics show that we all know somebody who has breast cancer, whether they are close or not. Breast cancer is everybody’s business.
