Ultramar raises over 1.2 million dollars  in 5 years for the Foundation

The Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation is proud to announce the success of the October 2009 fundraising campaign organized by one of its major partners, Ultramar Ltd. Loyal to the cause, Ultramar reached out to its customers for their generous donations and its employees’ cooperation for a fifth consecutive year. Since fall 2005, a total of 1.2 million dollars were donated to the Foundation, exceeding its primary goal of raising 1 million dollars over a 5 year period.

Thanks to various initiatives, Ultramar succeeded incredibly. All through October, the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, one cent per litre of Supreme gasoline sold was given to the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation. Donations boxes displayed in most service stations throughout the province also played an important part in collecting funds. Once again this year, Ultramar did not hesitate to promote the Foundation by giving considerable visibility to the well-known symbol of the pink ribbon, showcased in most of its stations. The campaign included a touching television commercial which contributed to maximizing their customers’ support for the campaign and the cause.

“We are extremely proud of the results. Despite this year’s difficult economic situation, our customers showed great generosity, helping us donate over $251,000 at the end of October,” said Christian Houle, Vice-President, Motorist Sales Network at Ultramar Ltd. “We believe that offering financial support to the Foundation is priceless. We are very proud to contribute, in our own way, to its progress and we hope that one day, actions such as these will help make this illness a thing of the past.”

The Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation considers the partnership with Ultramar essential in order to carry out its mission. “Donations made in the last 5 years helped us fund research, promote breast health by education and awareness and offer support to people touched by breast cancer,” declared Suzanne LeBreux, Executive Director of the Foundation. “It is a tremendous investment that Ultramar is making, and we are proud to have them as one of our major partners. The death rate for this illness has been dropping for the past 20 years. Without medical progress, the furtherance of new treatments, improved medicine, as well as early detection of the illness would not be possible.”
