Shave to Save 2011
Virgin Radio 96's Shave to Save totals $200,000
The Foundation is proud to announce that Virgin Radio' 96s 2011 Shave To Save campaign has raised an outstanding $200,000 . Since it first started in October 2000, nearly $4 million were raised for the cause through this event.
Again this year, Virgin Radio listeners responded to the call of their favourite radio station, and donated money to have Virgin Radio personalities show up at their offices, and their schools, to shave heads.
“Not only has Virgin Radio’s Shave To Save raised a lot of money for breast cancer research, but it’s become a huge viral campaign as well. Everyone who shaves their head is a walking awareness campaign. It’s extremely powerful seeing women and children doing it, especially young female adolescents,” said Melissa Dimakos, Promotions Director at Virgin Radio.
The Foundation would like to thank Virgin Radio 96, its personalities and listener, as well as Shave to Save's loyal partners: La Coupe, Diamond Taxi and Fairview Pointe-Claire for their generosity!
